Por eso es el día de “Todos los Santos”. Ese día la Iglesia festeja y se alegra por todos los hombres y mujeres, ancianos, jóvenes o niños solteros o casados, religiosos o laicos que han llegado a Dios, su meta última. No se festeja sólo a los beatos o santos que están en la lista de los canonizados y que la Iglesia celebra en un día especial del año; se celebra también a todos los que no están canonizados pero viven ya en la presencia de Dios. Entre ellos pueden estar nuestros parientes o aquellas personas rectas y ejemplares que conocimos. Estos no fueron canonizados, ni se les hizo una pintura o escultura, ni se les rinde culto público y, sin embargo son festejados este día. Es frecuente que este día las grandes catedrales exhiban las reliquias de los santos.
