de acuerdo con sus propios criterios y valores.
Hay que educarlos para que sean ellos los
que decidan qué hacer con su propia existencia;
para que cada uno sea protagonista de su
propia historia y sean capaces de decidir
por sí mismos su propio futuro.
Para lograr esto, los papás tienen que
inculcar a las criaturas desde pequeñitas
una fe profunda en Dios, sobre todo, y
también en sí mismos; ayudarlos a que
crezcan con confianza en sus propias personas,
cultivar en ellos los más grandes ideales
e inyectarle los valores morales más adecuados.
La tarea de los papás es sembrar, de la manera
más inteligente y profunda posible, todos los
ideales y valores positivos y buenos.
Mientras más profundamente siembren
esto en sus hijos, y
se preocupen en cultivar adecuadamente
con mucho amor, verán florecer en sus
hijos una personalidad auténtica y fuerte.
Los papás deben comprender
que esta tarea implicará, definitivamente,
mucho tiempo de convivencia con sus niños.
Pero que sea una convivencia agradable,
amena, íntima, y que se desarrolle desde
las primeras etapas de sus vidas.
A medida que el niño pequeñito crezca
y adquiera más madurez y personalidad,
los papás deben acompañarlos en su desarrollo.
Ahora, acompañar no es estar encima de ellos
como un perro guardián, no es sobreprotegerlos,
ni impedirles que sean ellos mismos.
Acompañar es caminar a su lado y,
mientras más pequeño el niño,
más necesita sentir la presencia de sus papás.
Luego, a medida que va creciendo,
los papás deben separarse, alejarse poco a poco.
No en el aspecto, diríamos, físico o de contacto,
sino en el aspecto de permitir al muchacho y a
la muchacha que sean ellos mismos.
Ustedes, como papás, deben estar siempre a su lado,
aconsejándoles, velando por ellos,
pero no decidiendo por ellos ni opinando o
imponiendo la última palabra de
una manera tiránica,
porque eso no conduce a nada bueno.
Cuando comprenda que sus hijos son más hijos de
Dios y de la vida que suyos,
desempeñará mejor su papel de
padre o madre.
Comprenda que su misión
fue traer a sus hijos al mundo y
formarlos bien, pero para la vida y
para que ellos cumplan la misión que
Dios les tiene reservada. Cuando usted
comprenda que su tarea consiste en
sembrar solamente y que después ellos
cosecharán para otros, entenderá algo
muy importante de lo que es ser papá o mamá.
Su misión es sagrada e importantísima;
le ha sido encomendada por Dios, nuestro Señor.
Implica mucha madurez y responsabilidad.
Forme bien a sus criaturas, siembre en ellos
todo lo bueno que pueda. Después,
déjelos crecer y desarrollarse.
¡Que sean ellos mismos!
Gánese su confianza para que ellos
tengan el suficiente interés de acercarse
a usted para comentar sus experiencias,
compartir sus fracasos y éxitos, para
pedirle los consejos que necesitan,
para buscar apoyo y consuelo en los
momentos difíciles. Pero no esté
demasiado encima porque entonces
hará de ellos unos títeres que no
aprenderán a vivir como seres
autónomos y responsables o
simplemente se rebelarán y los
perderá irremediablemente.
