no podía proveer lo mínimo indispensable para los seis.
Creo que allí fue cuando aprendió a hacerse
cargo de otras personas y de situaciones importantes,
habilidad que le sirvió muchísimo en su adultez
para superarse ampliamente.
Mientras bregaba en la tienda, se dio
cuenta de que tendría que terminar la
escuela secundaria para obtener un
trabajo mejor remunerado.
Mientras las niñas de su edad salían a divertirse o
descansaban, protegidas por su familia,
Emilia hizo el esfuerzo de estudiar
después de largas jornadas parada
atendiendo gente y de llegar a su casa,
preparar la comida y ocuparse de la tarea de sus hermanos.

empleo en una oficina, de recepcionista.
A pesar de su corta edad, entendió
que precisaba más capacitación para
acceder a puestos con mejores pagas,
entonces se dedicó incesantemente a
tomar cuanta capacitación la empresa

cursos o talleres destinados a otras áreas,

“el primer hombre que me dio amor y un lugar”)
y tuvo dos hijos.

Sin embargo, apenas pasados los 30 años,
su suerte tuvo un giro drástico.
Aunque lo que a veces parece una mala jugada
del destino puede dar lugar a caminos de superación impensados.
Después del nacimiento de su segundo hijo, se separó.
Y a los pocos meses, la empresa donde se desempeñaba cerró.
Sola y con dos niños pequeños, pensó que,
nuevamente, había caído la noche para ella.
Pero no fue así.
Emilia inmediatamente obtuvo un puesto de
secretaria bilingüe en una firma importante.
Toda la capacitación que se había esforzado en recibir
la había ayudado para especializarse en diversos
temas relevantes para una compañía, que la

en sus inversiones y también le pidió que,
fuera de la oficina, le llevara sus finanzas
personales e hiciera algunos trabajos para él
que le pagaba de manera independiente…
¡otro ingreso más!
Para Emilia, hacerse cargo era moneda corriente,
así que puso todo su empeño en estas nuevas tareas…
que también le daban un margen para ahorrar y
para seguir creciendo económicamente.
Al morir su madre hace unos años,
le había ido comprando la parte
proporcional de un pequeño
apartamento a cada uno de sus hermanos.
A esa altura, pudo sacar un crédito y
mudarse a un lugar más cómodo,
donde cada niño tenía su propio cuarto.

Emilia se forjó una posición
bastante holgada y sus hijos
