Un día como hoy pero de 1964 aparece la tira humorística en la revista porteña Primer Plana, convirtiéndose en una de las más populares de la Argentina.
El 29 de septiembre de 1964 la tira humorística «Mafalda» de Joaquín Lavado , Quino, comienza a publicarse, dos veces por semana en la revista porteña Primera Plana, que luego se convirtió en una de las historietas más populares de la Argentina.
Luego de pasar al diario el Mundo y de ahí al semanario Siete días, el último episodio de Mafalda apareció el 25 de junio de 1973.
La historieta que cumple hoy 51 años fue traducida a más de treinta idiomas, las sucesivas reediciones de la tira siguen gozando aun del favor del público de numerosos países latinoamericanos y europeos.
Quino dibujó además de la pequeña y sus padres, sus amigos: Felipe, Manolito, Susanita, Miguelito y Libertad; y su hermanito Guille.
También Mafalda tuvo apariciones en televisión, con una serie de 52 cortos de entre 90 y 260 segundos de duración, producida por Daniel Mallo y Oscar Desplats en 1972, con dirección de Catú (Jorge Martín). Los cortos se compilaron en cinco episodios.
